Crack Sealing

CAPE SEALS are very restorative. This process utilizes the combination of a Chip Seal followed by a Slurry Seal or Microsurfacing to provide a long-lasting surface treatment with a smooth finish.

Chip Seals have long been recognized as a cost-effective and durable method for sealing pavements to extend their service life, however, the rough texture of the surface aggregate can be undesirable in some locations. The application of the Slurry Seal or Microsurfacing over the Chip Seal provides a look and finish similar to a hot mix asphalt overlay, but at a lower cost. In addition to enhanced aesthetics and customer acceptance, the Slurry Seal also locks in the Chip Seal aggregate thereby eliminating potential stone loss.

Depending on the existing pavement condition, traffic volumes and types, and pavement management goals, Cape Seals can be constructed with a multitude of various material types and sizes. Please discuss these Cape Seal variations for specific candidates within your highway network with a NYBIT representative.
